The Holder’s Dominion Review: by Micky Neilson

MICKY NEILSON is the Publishing Lead at Blizzard Entertainment, where he has worked since 1993. Micky’s riveting and brilliant talents have led him to write for titles such as World of Warcraft, dc-comics-world-of-warcraft-pearl-of-pandaria_Micky-NeilsonStarCraft, Warcraft III and Lost Vikings II. Micky’s first comic book, World of Warcraft: Ashbringer, hit number two on the New York Times Bestseller list for Hardcover Graphic Novels. Micky and James Waugh co-wrote World of Warcraft: Curse of the Worgen in 2011, and very recently Micky’s enthralling original graphic novel, World of Warcraft: Pearl of Pandaria, released and introduced readers to the PANDAREN, one of the most beloved (and mysterious) races in World of Warcraft. In addition, Micky has extended his innate ability for story crafting to screenplays, and with his writing partner Sam Didier, writes scripts in any spare time he can scrounge. It is truly an honor to reveal Micky Neilson’s review for my “New Adult” gaming novel, The Holder’s Dominion:

New York Times-bestselling author Micky Neilson reviews “New Adult” gaming novel:

The Holder’s Dominion is a heartfelt, fast-paced thrill ride that will appeal to gamers and non-gamers alike.”

—Micky Neilson, New York Times-bestselling author

Joining iconic industry veterans like Christie Golden and Richard Bartle, Micky Neilson endorses what many sources are calling a “breakthrough novel.” Transforming the representation of the video game industry worldwide, The Holder’s Dominion is the only new gamer fiction of its kind. Following a newcomer to the world of online role-playing games, this book sidesteps stereotypes and reveals a tight-knit community facing a very real threat. Publisher’s Weekly praised Ms. Davis for sticking to “her new adult guns” and not classifying her work as either “young adult—Y/A,” which is usually directed toward high school readers, or “adult,” the more mature classification.Ashbringer_Micky_Neilson_Holders_Dominion

Davis brings her own online experiences and insider knowledge to a story that engages dedicated players and non-gamers alike in Kaylie’s quest to protect the ones she loves from a power-hungry manipulator. Along the way she realizes that the problems she hoped to forget are right there in her escapist fantasy—but so are the solutions. The hope is that this fast-paced, thrill ride will bridge the gap between families and friends of gamers who wonder why their loved ones play video games.

Genese DavisMicky: Your rich and imaginative writing captures readers around the world. Your positive, warm, and kind demeanor energizes everyone around you. You inspire perseverance and a proactive mentality that demonstrates just how important it is to create your future, not wait for it. You’ve made such a difference in my life and I am eternally grateful.
